This activity was developed for neonatologists, nurse practitioners,
nurses, and other health care providers working with low birth weight babies.
learning objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
 Describe the epidemiology, pathophysiology and clinical identification of PDA
 Evaluate the efficacy and safety of various treatment options supported by
the scientific literature
 Assess the role and clinical experience and issues with cyclooxygenase inhibitors,
including IV ibuprofen lysine as compared with IV indomethacin
 Utilize appropriate treatment strategies to optimize outcomes

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance
with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation
Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through
the joint sponsorship of the Annenberg Center for Health
Sciences at Eisenhower and Akita Biomedical Consulting. The
Annenberg Center is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing
medical education for physicians.

a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Creditstm. Physicians
should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their
