This activity was developed for physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists and other health care professionals caring
for low birth weight infants with PDAs.
learning objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

Use appropriate tools to diagnose PDA more quickly in their patients

Consider side effect information, efficacy data, and the individual characteristics
of the patient in choosing optimal approaches to treating PDA

Provide appropriate levels of nutrition to their patients with PDA during the
treatment process
Pharmacists will also be able to provide appropriate information on the similarities and differences of the available pharmacologic
treatment options.
Nurses will also be able to better monitor their patients for potential side effects of the various treatment options.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation
Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of the Annenberg Center for Health Sciences
at Eisenhower and Akita Biomedical Consulting. The Annenberg Center is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical
education for physicians.
The Annenberg Center designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credittm.
