introductionAs the war on cancer advances on many fronts, progress is ongoing in scientific research and the clinical management of advanced NSCLC. Please join us for this important CME educational program developed by leading national oncologists in the field of NSCLC with an audience of community oncologists in mind. Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) accounts for about 87% of all cases of lung cancer diagnosed in the United States. The evolution of the treatment of NSCLC has produced only minimal changes in patient survival. As newer advances occur, however, community oncologists have described their inability to keep up with those changes in their clinical practices. This has created a gap between the care that patients receive and optimal care indicated by current evidence. Specific areas of need cited by oncologists include information on personalizing therapy to meet the goals of improving efficacy and decreasing toxicity, biomarkers and genetic testing, the use of new agents and combinations, adjuvant and/or neoadjuvant treatment, refractory disease, and less toxic strategies for "poor health" patients. The results of recent studies and new trends in evidence-based care in NSCLC will be addressed in these meetings for community clinicians. The program will combine a didactic presentation describing cutting-edge therapy for advanced NSCLC, including examining the role of markers in making therapeutic decisions, and also focusing on exciting areas such as EGFR mutations that are emerging as avenues for selecting patients and optimizing clinical outcomes, along with interactive case-based discussions, designed to help audience members fully understand and apply the principles they've learned. Four regional dinner meetings will present up-to-the-moment information targeted to this need, developed by a planning committee of recognized experts. Register now to ensure your seat at the meeting date and location most convenient.
