overview

Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) affects approximately 1 in 2,000 infants making it one of the most common congenital cardiac defects in neonates. Diagnosis of the condition is often complicated and challenging. It is also evident that a diversity of opinion and practice patterns exist around the diagnosis and treatment of PDA. There is no clear-cut, evidence-based approach to patient care. The varied practice patterns of clinicians caring for infants with PDAs highlight the issues and questions that establish the need for further continuing education.

This symposium will provide an educational opportunity to learn about early diagnosis, identification, and the medical management of PDA. There is no charge for this activity.
