According to the AHA, approximately 770,000 Americans will experience a
new coronary attack this year and about 430,000 will have a recurrent attack. It is estimated that an additional 190,000 silent
first heart attacks occur each year.
Follow-up care to reduce the risk of or prevent new thrombus formation in the coronary arteries is critical. However,
many clinicians are not clear on the role of various anticoagulant and antiplatelet agents for these patients with acute
coronary syndrome or are uncertain of their use because of the controversies that surround them.
The purpose of this educational activity is to examine the evidence and guidelines for the use of anticoagulants and
antiplatelet agents in patients with ACS. Special attention will be given to patients with diabetes.
As innovative research expands and unfolds, management of the patient with acute coronary syndrome continually takes on
new dimensions. Join Dr. Eugene Braunwald and other experts for this complimentary Dinner Symposium
as they delve into current and future phamacotherapeutic strategies and issues surrounding the best practices for ACS patients.
